Successful knowledge transfer on heat pumps between Germany and Japan

Heat pumps are a sustainable and energy-efficient technology for heating and cooling buildings, and their use is increasing globally. In recent years, there has been a successful business cooperation between Bode as a specialized company for planning of such systems and Misawa Environmental Technologies. The Japanese company, based in Miyoshi City and Aizuwakamatsu City, is a specialist in planning and sales of high-quality heat pumps. Together, the German and Japanese companies have been able to combine their expertise in the development and production of heat pumps to create a range of highly efficient and cost-effective solutions for innovative buildings.

In search of support for the transformation of the energy supply, Fukushima Prefecture has been cooperating for several years with the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which is facing similar challenges as a result of the move away from nuclear and fossil energy. In 2014, a joint declaration of intent stated that the mutual exchange of ideas should be intensified. The company from Münster/Germany was also selected as a partner and has since been contributing to improving energy shift in Japan. Marcel Stüer from Bode Planungsgesellschaft für Energieeffizienz puts it this way: "Together with our Japanese partners, we are doing everything we can to raise awareness of energy consumption in the building sector and promote energy-efficient systems."

Since the past years, employees of Bode Planungsgesellschaft have participated several times in the REIF energy trade fair in Koriyama, Japan, among other events, there have been regular exchanges with Japanese partners. This fair is made possible by EnergyAgency. FUKUSHIMA, which also intensively promotes the cooperation of the German partners. A focus is also on the exchange of SMEs, which are thus given the opportunity to implement the energy transition from the bottom up. Particularly close is the cooperation with the general planner for heat pumps Misawa Environmental Technologies, which is also very interested in bilateral relations.

The cooperation between the German and Japanese companies has also been beneficial in terms of knowledge exchange and innovation. The two companies have been able to share ideas and technologies, and this has led to the development of new and improved heat pump related systems that are even more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. Overall, the business cooperation between the German and Japanese companies in the field of heat pumps has been a success, and it is a great example of how international collaboration can lead to the development of innovative and sustainable technologies.
